Bondo for the next layer

After making the fiberglass shell i used bondo for the final layer of skin to make it stronger. It was the most painful thing ive ever done. Took me all day just to cover it with the bondo. And the sandy was just ass bad.

Fiber glass work

Next comews the resin to make everything in to fiber glass and let me tell you this is one of the most hardest thing ever to do when your making something this big.Frist time ive done fiberglass on something this over sized and resin really smell bad so i hhad to keep stoping every few mins.

Mixing this stuff always a pain. you never know if u got it right or not. No matter what it say's on the can it's still a pain. and You got about 15 min between caost before it starts to heat up and burn.

Finishing the frame and stapling the fleence

Ok so i managed to remove the body frame of the soapbox car, which makes it possiable for to fix some thing in siade the car if i had too.But i have to amit i was scared that the whole thing was going to break apart as so as i did it. But that never happened so i didnt have to go kill some one.

Then i got the fleence already to staple to the frame. which will be caoted in resin later makes fiberglass. really kool.

Ryan gave me a hand in the final steps to stapling can my hand was killing me.

the black betty pinup logo

So i asked a friend of mine Ryan myars to draw me up a pinup doll image for the front of the soapbox car. And here it is , there's still some stuff to add on to it but it's almost there . Thought i's give u a peek at it.
Oh and for those of u who read the newspapers.
I was in the " Dailyfreeman" newspaper Which talked about the soapbox car derby i entered. Here's a link to it.

building the shell.

Well i got the front part built. It's almost like building a boat.only using lots of duct tape.I spent all morning doing this.I just found one more use for duct tape. Build a soapbox car with it.

I got the nosie piece down pretty well. Funny part is it looks like a gaint bird cage.

I also got the inside front panel built and put in a flip switch for the bubble maker.Got to make it look pretty now.

Trying to figure out how to build the body shell

So i pretty much trying to figure out the best wayto make the body of the racer.I layed down these strip's of wood which will help me staple fabric down and the use resin to make a kind of fiber glass.

As u can see this helps me figure out where the fiber glass will cover and also be the supposed for it.I'm trying to also to figure out if i want to be able to pop off the shell of just make panels. to reach in the racer if i have to fix anything.

finishing the chair

OK so i had to finish up the chair today, so i started cuting the yellow float tube i got at the toystore. and just glued it down with silcone glue which works best causes it nice and thick and works best with foam.

Then i just lay them down even to one another, until i filled up the bottom part of the sit.and the cut it with a knife to the shape i need it tobe.

Fabric on chair and back brd.

I had to put a Fabric on the chair so i went with this diamond patteren style design. And use spray glue to adhere it to the sit. By the way never spray this stuff inside, the glue gets everywhere.

Then i just rubbed it down made sure everything was glue down just right.

Then just started stapling everthing down. and all around it i used alot of staples just to make sure it doesnt pop off.

Then i just cut of what i didnt need and that part was done.
I pretty much did the same thing with the back broad i cut it, spared it stapled it and poped it on.

Making the brakes

So now it came time to build the brakes. I had this design in my head for a while so it wasnt a big deal to make. Just had to find all the wood i need for it.

I took a pair brakes off an old bike i found and installed into the soapbox car. I had to make a few adjustment cause they werent designed to fit into soapbox car, but it worked out.

I bought a new line wire cause i had to cut the old one in order to remove them form the bike. Plus they were old nd i didnt trust them to work.

All together everything worked out great. You just push down on the lever and the brakes stop the back wheel. At least i hope it does.

making the chair

So after building the wooden chasir i decided to add some comfort to it.so i bought some foam tube used for kids when they going swiming in pools. which only cost me 2 dollars and cut it up in piece's to make the edges for the chair and the design in the middle. Then i used this foam in a can to spray in and around the chair to fill the spaces to complete the chair. then i had to shave it down till it was even all over.It all took about two hours to do.

Munny doll

So here a project that i've been wanting to start for a while now. Now paint them ur self Vinyl toy called Munny. Ive seen different ones painted in different styles. Most are done in a cartoon style and usally looks great ( http://www.rmyersart.com/munnypage.htm ). I dont really do cartoon type things so i decided to use my style in landscape painting which seems to get alot of notice.

I satrted off with a drawing to help me work out my idea Then i move on to drawing on the munny it self.Till i have what i want and begin the next stage.

Here's a closer view of what the doll will look like.
